From Evaluations to Upgrades,
Here Are WhatsUp Event Rover FAQs

Evaluating WhatsUp Event Rover

Q: Is the evaluation software limited in any way?
A: Yes. It is a thirty day, time-limited evaluation. While in evaluation mode, you can mine events for up to 50 machines, and there are certain limitations in Event Rover's LogHealer ™ capability.

Q: Is Event Rover ® just another version of the standard Microsoft Windows ® Event Viewer?
A: No. While Event Rover does improve upon the way that event logs have been traditionally viewed with that tool, its architecture is dramatically different. For example, its tree view and sorting capability moves event log review light years past the older, more linear approach to log review. In addition, Event Rover enables administrators to accomplish much more in terms of forensics than the more traditional method of log review ever could - including the automated saving of local copies of log files before review and storage of that particular sort for future use.

Q: What is the difference between the WhatsUp Event Analyst ® software and the WhatsUp Event Rover ® software?
A: Both titles are part of the WhatsUp Total Event Log Management Suite ™. In short, WhatsUp Event Analyst is a robust log file reporting tool and WhatsUp Event Rover is for quick forensics and log file review. They may both be used independently, together, or alongside other tools in the WhatsUp Total Event Log Management Suite.

Compared to Event Analyst, Event Rover has very limited reporting capability, but Event Rover is better for quick machine-by-machine viewing and filtering of event logs. If you're looking to routinely generate network activity reports for management, we recommend Event Analyst. If you find yourself routinely visiting machines and scanning through their log files, Event Rover will quickly replace event viewer for this purpose - you will cut down on time, headaches, and eyestrain.
